A businesswoman has sued her niece, claiming she wanted to kill and take her husband.
Gladys Osoro, 57, accused her niece Leah Moraa Obondi, 27, of sending her 274 threatening text messages on diverse dates between December 12 and 24 last year at Fedha estate in Nairobi.
According to police records, Gladys, who is sickly, has been married for 37 years and sometimes last year, invited Leah to live with her, but allegedly the latter later began having an affair with her husband before moving from her home to Buruburu estate.
Gladys was recovering from a heart operation and Leah returned to take care of her and two weeks later told her to look for another man as her husband had already impregnated her.
According to the prosecution, Leah sent Gladys a chain of text messages telling her death was imminent and would be timely as she will take over her house and husband with whom she had slept with and recorded the sessions.
The revelations worsened her medical conditions which sees her relying on blood pumping machines leading to the arrest of the accused on May 10, 2018.
Leah denied the charges and was freed on Sh20,000 cash bail. Her trial begins on August 6.
