During Governor Mutua’s visit to Nyeri County a month ago, he visited the humble homestead of Mzee Christopher Maina Muchoki and his wife Ann Gathigia. He was moved by the state of the structure the elderly couple stayed in and promised to build them a house.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader has indeed kept to his end of the bargain, he has constructed a decent block house for the couple, a perfect gift for them to light up their sunset days.
The modern house is self-contained and has two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. The second time Machakos Governor also requested well-wishers to help in furnishing the house by donating basic household items.
Among those who have pledged items is Comedian Churchill Ndambuki who has offered to buy a flat screen TV set for Mzee Muchoki, and Mr Chege Macharia who has also committed to buy family utensils.
The finished house will be officially handed over to the couple on Friday, May 11th.
