Four people have been arrested in the state of Georgia among them two individuals of Kenyan origin in relation to the brutal murder of a father of three in Cobb County.
According to the Atlanta Journal, Charlton Kariuki, Maria Mungai, Brittani Hernandez-Ortiz and Devin Thomas were arrested over the killing of Daniel Perez late last month.
Kariuki is alleged to have bought the weapon used in the shooting, a .38-caliber handgun for Sh12, 000 ($199.95), which he sold it to a juvenile for Sh11, 000 ($112). The teen is alleged to have pulled the trigger.
He then allegedly drove the suspects to Blue Springs where they accosted Perez who was in the passenger seat of a pick-up truck that he had just bought to start his landscaping business according to a warrant from the police.
At the scene, Thomas reportedly distracted Perez while one of the suspects came up and shot him in the head at pointblank range.
Mungai then helped the suspects escape and hid them after the incident. Perez was later declared brain dead and taken off life support, he died on March 27.
Speaking to the press, Perez’ sister Lucia Gonzalez said the murder of his brother was unfortunate, “It’s just sad because he was just taking his brother to a job interview literally that morning.”
They are being held without bail.
