Every election circle in Kenya is often characterized by long queues of people jostling for positions trying to outwit each other by hook or crook.

Some strip naked, are hospitalized and treated for shock or sink into depression whenever they lose. So what attracts them this much? One thing is for sure, the allure of power.

Whether elective or not, positions in Kenya are lucrative and come with immense privileges that makes the 99% of the population salivate while their backs break as they lift the heavy tax burden to finance the luxury.

While you are bungled like goats to matatus legislators with questionable degrees, MCAs who have never managed even a burial committee, state officials with kitambi the size of Senegal and agency bosses who care less are entitled to official cars and loans to service their private collection.

Let’s start with President Uhuru Kenyatta;

Though classified, Uhuru Kenyatta cruises in an armoured Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Pullman. When driving incognito, he has often been spotted behind the wheel of a Range Rover.

He was once stopped by a traffic officer who got the shock of his life after he rolled down the window and identified himself, “ni mimi ofisa, fungua (it is me officer, allow us to go).”

Deputy President William Ruto:

Ruto, the self-styled Hustler, is driven in a Lexus LX 570. The powerful set of wheels is flanked by several Land cruiser V8s.

Chief Justice David Maraga:

Raila Amolo Odinga

The National Super Alliance leader has of late, since his chaotic arrival from the USA, been spotted in a white Range Rover sport mixing it up once in a while with a Land cruiser V8 that has a sunroof where he often uses to address his followers.
