After weeks of closure, revelers of a popular night club Space Lounge and Grill located along Ngong road, Nairobi can heave a sigh of relief after it was reopened.
In a letter seen exclusively by SDE, National Environment Management Authority (Nema) has allowed Space Lounge and Grill to resume operations.
The night club had endured closure since January 10, following a crackdown on social spaces perceived to be too loud.
The crackdown saw Space Lounge and Grill among other establishments frequented by Nairobians including B-Club, Kiza and Jiweke Tarven shut over noise pollution claims.
All the spaces denied non-compliance citing veiled witch-hunt from competitors.
The opening comes just days after Tourism Secretary Najib Balala questioned the ban on shisha and closure of the clubs.
Speaking at Pride Inn Hotel in Mombasa during a three-day induction retreat for the National Assembly committee on sports and Tourism and Culture, CS Balala argued that the closure of night clubs was a rushed miscalculated that only served to frustrate business owners and render innumerable youth jobless.
On the shisha ban imposed by former Health Cabinet secretary Cleophas Mailu, CS Balala opined that it was better judgment to tax to generate more revenue rather than a blanket ban.
Celebrating their resuming normal operations, Space Lounge sent out #welcomebacktospace fliers to their patrons for a party on Saturday February 3, headlined by HitsRepublic DJs leb by Dj Tibbz.
