The University of Nairobi is arguably Kenya’s institution of higher learning with the most powerful student body, the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU).

SONU’s stature in history for having produced some of Kenya’s reputable politicians from its ranks such as Siaya Senator James Orengo, Ababu Namwamba, Miguna Miguna and PLO Lumumba among others is not in doubt.

It was thus not surprising that after the union’s longest serving chairman Babu Owino was elected as Embakasi East MP, his successor, Jamal Khan, all eyes were transfixed on another entrant to the scene Jamal Khan.

Jamal as he is popularly known, is as bold as they come, and pulls lot of weight at the university where he leads a student body with a number in thousands.

His meteoric rise to the seat could not have been captured better than after he took on the university over its controversial closure last year over student unrest.

His looks have gotten his female comrades drooling as he steps out to fit into Babu’s shoes and in an exclusive to SDE disclosed that he had all it takes. On matters of age, he reponded that he was 'old enough to take the button from Babu.'

Glittering in his right arm was a Hublot watch, code 582888, that he says he purchased at a cost of $15,000 (Sh1.5 million).Talk of brains, looks, taste and elegance.
