Nairobi Woman Representative Hon Esther Passaris has been harassed at the Milimani Law Courts by supporters of Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino.
Ms Passaris was at the courts to hear the ruling on Babu Owino’s release on bail on Wednesday September 27th.
The youth called the women rep traitor after she had reproached the Embakasi East legislator over his vile remarks against the presidency during an opposition rally in Kawangware on Sunday 24th September.
The rowdy youth went physical and Passaris had to be shielded by her bodyguards as the youth went on hurling insults at her demanding that she pulls down the post and apologises.
It took the intervention of Rarienda MP and Babu Owino’s lawyer Otiende Amollo to calm the youth in the court.
Babu Owino was freed on Sh500, 000 bail. Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi hearing his case found reasons for holding him further substantive.
Other than the bail, the court demanded that two sureties of equal standings sign a bond of Sh1 million.
According to Babu Owino’s lawyer’s suggestions, the two sureties could be Nairobi County Women Rep, Esther Passaris and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.
The controversial former student leader on Tuesday denied two charges against him. The first charge was subversion and the second incitement to violence.
