Woman representatives from the11th Parliament ordered to return cars the Government had allocated them The vehicles be returned to their respective county commissioner to facilitate a smooth transition Each county received two vehicles from the Sh10 million allocation

All the 47 woman representatives who sat in the 11th Parliament have been ordered to return the cars the Government had allocated them.

Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki said most of the vehicles allocated to the MPs by the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) were still being used by the woman representatives although many of them had lost their seats in last week’s General Election.

“A substantive number (11) of women representatives have lost their seats and subsequently their roles as patrons of the fund at the county level,” Ms Kariuki said during a meeting with the fund county coordinators at the Kenya School of Government.

Smooth transition

The vehicles should be returned to the respective county commissioner to facilitate a smooth transition and NGAAF management at the county level, she said.

Sh500 million was set aside for the purchase of the motor vehicles for the National Fund Secretariat and each county secretariat.

Each county received two vehicles from the Sh10 million allocation to each. During the transition period all county coordinators will be required to give a detailed inventory of all vehicles, stating their condition, and all other fund assets in the county.
