Kenya being an important partner to countries across the world, this week has seen her become subject of global attention. This is in regard to yesterday’s country’s big day: 2017 General Elections.

Media from across the world have been camping in Kenya to highlight on the highly contested elections. The attention underlining Kenya’s key position in the global picture.

With the election results trickling in, Uhuru Kenyatta, according to data from IEBC leads with about 7.6 million (54.44%) while Raila Odinga trails with 6.3 million a 44.17% representation of total vote as at 10:50 am-9th August.

First to go was CNN with headline “Kenya election: Voters endured long lines, now wait patiently for results”. In their story the American new outlets pointed out that the “relaxed atmosphere in Nairobi” at several polling stations on the voting date.

Others would later pick on Uhuru Kenyatta lead after counting began in the evening. “Kenya's Kenyatta surges ahead as opposition cries foul over poll results” Daily mail wrote.
