A Tanzanian group has reached out to a Kenyan singer to join them, a shock move that caught the star off-guard.

Madini Classic, an upcoming Mombasa artiste was added to a WhatsApp group that has top Bongo artistes after the release of his two new hits Tawire and Nikaribishe.

The group members had asked for his inclusion not knowing that he is a Kenyan artiste.

“They thought I am Tanzanian because of the way I sing. As much as it was an honour, I needed to make them know I’m Kenyan.

I felt like they were poaching me,” said the artiste known as John Phillip Ouma. “Some actually likened me to Otille Brown but I am my own man.”
