The armed attackers raided Deputy President William Ruto’s home in Sigoi at around 1pm moments after he left. The attackers have shot one GSU officer who was manning the gate.
Reports indicate the incident has happened after the Deputy President just left for Kitale where he is scheduled to hold a political rally together with the President.
Reports also indicate that the DP’s wife, Rachel Ruto and the children were not home when the attack occurred.
The DP’s home has since been cordoned as the attackers are believed to be still within the compound. GSU RECCE Squad have arrived at the home and enter the compound as gunshots are heard. The suspects are believed to be holed within the compound.
Police chopper also at the scene and police officers are surrounding the home as the Rift Valley Regional Coordinator and Uasin Gishu County Commander coordinate the operation.
The media and the public are barred to about 500 meters from the home.
The DP and President Uhuru Kenyatta have been on a political tour of the Rift Valley and yesterday they toured Nandi County.
