Kisii guys are not stingy, we are just realistic

News
Kisii and Kikuyu men are some of the most hardworking people in the world. The money they make cannot be wasted on silly things like flowers

A fortnight ago, some woman on social media accused Kisii men of being stingy, dirty, crude and sex machines. With the exception of the latter, the three other allegations are stupid, malicious and treasonous. For the second time, I will use this column to defend Kisii men who are the most industrious men in Africa.

The nonsense began on Christmas, when some ill-advised young woman left Kisumu for Mombasa to meet a supposed boyfriend. The boyfriend had not been picking calls consistently, and from the description, he was either stupid, or didn't feel the woman. But the woman nonetheless left Kisumu, on the far west of Kenya, and went to Mombasa, on the Far East to meet the douche of a man.

The man did show up at the bus stage, picked the poor the girl, slept with her and dismissed her without even bus fare. The man, by human standards, is a chimpanzee. But it is the woman who should be blamed here.

For how long shall we keep reminding women that before they show up for a date, they should have some cash that they can use to pay for the food they will eat, afford a taxi (Uber comes in handy) or a hotel room, should a man prove to be a prick, or die on his way to the date. It is 2017 for crying out loud.

But, biologically, women are not wired to take the blame at all. Instead, the blame was shifted to the man and his community was drawn to the hanky-panky and for a whole week, we, the Kisiis, endured so many insults that sadly even Kisii women who should know better participated in the mudslinging.

It is nothing new. Kisii and Kikuyu men have often been labelled as unromantic and parsimonious to unacceptable levels, which is a lot of nonsense. Kisii and Kikuyu men are some of the most hardworking people anywhere in the world. The money they make comes from sheer hard work, and cannot be wasted on silly things like flowers, pizza and junk food that some Kenyan women fancy.

Focused women from all over Kenya have married Kisii men, knowing that food, shelter and clothing will be sorted for the rest of their lives. No tribe in the world values marriage than Kisii men. While we may not spoil our women with the things they fancy, we give them much more; a big house to live in, lots of property, the children will go to the best schools, and more.

A good number of Kenyans thinks life is all about smartphones, holidays on beaches, junk food and other silly things that Hollywood exports. What is the essence of going to a beach? It is all sand for Christ's sake! Buy yourself a smartphone. Grow up and stop seeking favours from men. Other women are doing it, driving big cars, buying property and all you can do is sit and slander men that they are stingy and what not!

In 2017, a section of Kenyan women need to style up. I'm tired with the freeloading culture. I'm tired of Kenyan women enduring abuses and insults in the hands of Congolese and Nigerian, simply because they know how to throw drinks in bars and are generous to a fault.

I am tired of stereotypes. We are all the same. There are stingy men in every tribe. And anyone who works hard for his money can never splurge. Thieves, tenderpreneurs, drug lords, central and west Africa men who can't describe what they do in the country in three words, can afford to splurge because they make money in ways we upright Kisii men can't.

Next time a man fails to pay your rent, your gas, your hair, manicure, pedicure or junk food, blame yourself on the choices you make. Get a job and buy these things yourself.

We actually do you a favour by insisting you cook for us at home - eating outside is dangerous and expensive.
