A church service to usher in the New Year in a Catholic church in Kiambu County was briefly thrown into disarray after a drunk interrupted the sermon pegged on New Year resolutions.
Fr Michael Kamau, the priest at Holy Rosary Ting’ang’a Catholic Church was urging parishioners to embrace cleanliness and stop alcoholism, but at just that juncture, a tall, slim dark man commonly known as ‘Atoti’ rose and mouthed that he was not going to fall for the priest’s persuasion, especially bathing as he was not touching water until 2018.
“No father,No!No!I don’t agree. I refuse to bath for two years,no way,” slurred the man upon which the priest ordered the church elders to escort the man out.
“People should learn that this is a holy sanctuary and jokes should not be brought inside the house of God,be warned a curse can befall you”, Fr Kamau told the congregation.
“We were shocked when we heard him shout at the priest,” said a resident. “He was making a lot of noise and the proceedings had to be halted for a while.”
