Last week, gospel singer Bahati took to social media to apologize to Kenyans to asking for forgiveness for himself and the entire gospel industry for falling in spreading the gospel.
In the apology, Bahati put up a poster with secular artistes like Sautisol, Nyashinski and Collo as Nominees of Groove awards male artistes of the year. A post that didn’t go so well with many people in the gospel industry and those in secular as well.
Sautisol’s Bien fired back saying there are artists who sing for Christ and Bahati shouldn’t drag names of all gospel artistes in his publicity stunts. Not one to keep quiet, the reigning Groove Male Artiste of the year L Jay Maasai also warned Bahati about his publicity stunts.
“No one appointed Bahati as the spokesman for the gospel industry. There are plenty of musicians doing real gospel music and (are) inspired by the Word of God. Maybe we as fans are just paying attention to the wrong musicians… Let’s not dwell in some quotas who have become experts in publicity stunt,
“This looks like another strategy for a new song release bro @bahatikenya,” Ljay had said.
Since the release of Bahati’s new song “Kwa Moyo Wangu” alongside Jemimah Thiongo, L Jay seems to have been right about the publicity stunt coming right before a song.
