Most of the local fans present at the Mombasa rocks festival concert that witnessed internationally renowned Chris Brown perform on stage were shocked by battle of supremacy between Tanzania’s Ali Kiba and Nigeria’s Wizkid- after both declined to perform before the other.
A close source revealed to SDE that Ali Kiba refused to perform before Wizkid citing the fact that he is more popular than the Nigerian in Kenya.
The back-and-forth spat affected the concert by delaying the two artists' performances. Brown's appearance had to be pushed to past 11pm as the event organizers including Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho who is a friend to Ali Kiba intervened.
A few minutes later, Wizkid had no choice but to perform before Ali Kiba.
Drama however ensued after hardly a few minutes into Ali Kiba’s second song, his microphone got disconnected forcing him to make way for Brown's 90-minute crowd smasher- of which five of his songs backed up by the deejay.
His performance ended with fireworks on stage before he left for the US five minutes later aboard his private jet.
Meanwhile, the organisers brought Kiba back to the stage to finish his performance.
However, observers are agreed that this is not the first time Ali Kiba is being favored in Kenya owing largely to his popularity in the region.
Hardly a few months ago, when Diamond Platnumz came to Kenya to perform at the ODM 10-year anniversary, he was made to perform before Ali Kiba. When Diamond Platnumz realized that he had reportedly been duped to curtain raise for Kiba, he threw a tantrum and refused to exit the stage.
It took the intervention of the organizers to convince him to leave the stage.
