Don’t be a dumb bozo on Facebook - Of obscene and offensive ‘jokes’

There are three things we have learnt over the past week after the shocking series of events that surrounded Ken wa Mwangi. One, there are a lot of dumb bozos on social media. Two, your actions and words can come back to bite you where the sun doesn’t shine. And three, the internet doesn’t do take-backs if you change your mind later.

I don’t think Ken wa Mwangi and his hordes of bootlickers could have possibly imagined that his reprehensible status update on Facebook would have exploded into public consciousness.

He has a long track record of obscene and offensive ‘jokes’ that have largely gone unnoticed. Little did he know that the random Sunday afternoon update would attract the severest of consequences.

I don’t know how real or imagined his account of him defiling an 11-year-old girl is, so I will refrain from calling him a paedophile. What I know for sure is that Ken wa Mwangi is a shameless pervert. It doesn’t matter if his infamous Facebook update was just a result of his warped sense of humour. He is a deranged sexual psychopath who got what he deserved and it was a long time coming.

It is amazing how the internet has turned some of us into assholes. What I am finding hard to swallow with this whole Ken wa Mwangi situation is that he was not using Facebook as an anonymous outlet. He had his real name there, his pictures and where he works.

You see, I know men like Ken wa Mwangi on social media. They are sickos who post perverse obscenities and send you unsolicited pictures of their nether regions. The only difference is that they are not called Ken wa Mwangi. They use pseudonyms like bigdaddy101 or bigdi*k69. They indulge their perverted side under a veil of anonymity.

Ken wa Mwangi is among the new breed of shameless perverts who post perverted things and don’t give two hoots about who sees it. What the hell man? Your relatives are on social media. Your work colleagues are your friends on Facebook. The mother of your child is on Facebook!

How do you feel about your mum seeing the disgusting post you made about defiling a class six child? If one day I became a little cuckoo and felt the urge to recount an explicit sexual encounter on Facebook, the thought of my parents, relatives, colleagues and anyone I respect for that matter, seeing me in bad light would be enough deterrent.

What was he hoping to achieve? Does he enjoy it when people think of him as a deranged sexual psychopath? How detached from humanity is he that he does not think twice about posting such obscenities?

Ken probably thought he was whispering his indiscretions to a small social circle of people who worship him. Now he knows that online power can be a liability, personally and professionally. Don’t be a dumb bozo.
