A woman poured hot water on her husband's private parts in a night quarrel.

The man is currently receiving treatment at Matunda sub-county hospital in Kakamega County for the burns.

The victim, who is a boda boda operator, said he arrived home on Sunday evening and demanded to be handed the title deed for his land. The demand led to an argument with his wife.

"I had sold part of our land and used the money to acquire another plot in the area. I brought the title deed and asked my wife to keep it. But when I asked her to give me the document on Sunday, it led to the pains I am undergoing," said the man.

He said his wife told him she had burnt the title deed and thrown his identity card into the toilet on claims that he had bought the new land in preparation to marry another woman.

"I did not want any confrontation with her. I retired to bed but woke up at 3am after feeling a burning sensation in my private parts. Attempts to call for help were futile," he said.

He said his wife of 15 years scalded him and left the house at night.

According to Jecinta Nikoe, a medical attendant at the facility,  the father of six suffered 35-40 degree burns and will have to spend a month at the facility receiving treatment.

The man said he was not ready to accept his wife back.

According to his brother Ben, the estranged in-law had burnt bedding and clothes in past conflicts.

"It is saddening that my brother had to endure all this pain," he said.

His father, Clement, termed the incident an abomination to the Luhya culture, adding that a ritual will be performed by elders to cleanse and deter such unlawful and beastly acts in the village.

Lichedi Simiyu, a neighbour, raised concerns about the rate at which young women have continued to terrorise their husbands in the area in domestic disputes.
