Chivalry is dead but did women kill it?

News

During the 2014 annual prayer breakfast at the Safari Park Hotel Nairobi, his Excellency the President gave dignitaries a rare treat by picking his deputy to sing.

There is not much to comment on his voice or choice of song because I think that’s rather relative but I’m particularly interested in how the first lady watched her husband lead in the melody.

The passion and zeal that sparked from her eyes were enough to give love a new meaning let alone give Obama and Michelle a ran for their money.

Ever wondered why the happiest of couples are never talked about? Why complicated Facebook lads hit newspaper headlines?

It’s simple. As they all say, it’s the beautiful things in life that thrive where no attention prevails. Love is beautiful when shown through ways not comprehended by all but by the hearts of the soul mates.

Society has impacted on every single being on planet earth. The paradigm of ‘mwanaume ni’ has bore an illusion to us as sentimental beings.

We look at each other as not gifts but trophies which we express a wrong feeling of “we deserve it; we own it and we can put it wherever we want.”

Gone are the days men could offer to go to the market just to paint a perfect smile on their wives faces.

Long forgotten are the days women would compliment their husbands for the small things they do for them.

Now am not saying they represent the world’s population but let’s face it, it’s not a story to sleep on. Still there is hope that we all can live to love and be loved in our “narcissistic fabricated” society.

All is not lost yet. It’s time we sit down and focus on what matters. It’s time we all produce Tujuane themes in our homes.

I am not a believer of the one mindset that has been imprinted on us courtesy of the Mexican soaps flooding our media platforms.

Anyone can be your one; you just have to learn to keep that pinnacle complimented by him or her. It’s a scripted world we live in; boy meets girl, girl falls in love but the ending has so far found many writers on board.

Many hearts break, many souls go astray but how about we all try looking into each other’s eyes during dinner and not feel the taste of food because the view is just too hard to let go off.

How about we all take each other’s hands, lead ourselves to the balcony and enjoy some cool breeze with whispers of sweet words.

It doesn’t bite to get a little naughty when that young energy still lingers within, does it? How about opening our eyes to see the small things that we never sat down to think about and say them loud with words Romeo wouldn’t mind passing for Juliet.

We can all fall in love each and every single day. We can all learn that our spouses are gifts from God, unconditionally given to us. We can all write and finish our chapters with happy endings.

It’s a task but it’s a pleasure, hobby and fun to those who listen to the hearts rhythm. Don’t try to live by the script, try writing your own and let the viewers enjoy and learn from it. It’s the moment we all know. It’s the moment of a simple touch, Love.
