Over 1100 candidates hoping to join the Indian army were forced to take the test clad in their underwear. Candidates are usually frisked, in order to eliminate cases of cheating by using ‘mwaks’ in the written exams, .
Speaking to the Indian Express Newspaper, an army official however said that this time round, candidates were asked to remove their clothes to “save time on frisking so many people”.
In effect, a lawyer has filed a case in court seeking to find if the exercise violated human rights and dignity. A candidate had earlier stated that being asked to remove clothes was “not dignified”.
