The State does not care if you are saved or not

News
The rules drafted by the AG’s office

The State is neutral on matters faith and permits citizens to believe or not believe in God, engage or not engage in religious practices, or belong to religious organisations according to the dictates of their conscience.

There is however a limit to this separation, especially where mass media is involved. And this is where the Government of Kenya, the Attorney General and the Communications Authority come in... to demarcate these limits.

Some argue that when we decide to regulate even the most harmful religious beliefs and practices because we do not ourselves believe these beliefs or practices to be valid, true or sincerely held, we strike at the heart of the right to religious freedom. I do not think so. When we regulate such practices, we are in effect protecting Kenyans against fraud.

The Government does not care whether you spend your whole weekend holed up at home, in a pub somewhere, or even in church. The State will not interfere with worship unless it infringes on the rights of others.

For instance, when church members are asked to set themselves ablaze as a way of getting to heaven because the world is almost coming to an end, then that kind of worship becomes governments’ business. No sane government will sit and watch as its tax payers literally go up in smoke for no apparent reason.
