In the spirit of wealth declaration, activist Boniface Mwangi and his wife, Hellen Njeri, were not left behind.
Boniface uploaded a video on his Facebook account, speaking about politics, corruption and went ahead to declare his wealth. The video was accompanied with this status, “We asked our leaders to make their wealth declarations public. In the spirit of transparency, my and wife are declaring our wealth too. We have three young children who are all in school. The most expensive expenditure is good quality education, so most of our money goes there. Both of us have a combined work experience of over 20 years but our wealth doesn’t reflect. Apart from the small savings we have for a rainy day, we survive paycheck to paycheck. It’s the story of honest, hardworking Kenyans. We are both fighting for a better Kenya. ?#KnockOutCorruption.”

“I am a husband, a father and a photographer…I have done less than 20 protests but I have a salary and a full time job…I don’t have to be in politics or run for elective office to show I care about this country. I am not vying for a political seat in 2017,” he pointed out.
He went on to declare his worth to be Ksh 3 million shilling. His wife also stated his worth to be around Ksh 2 million, adding that she owns a car and a motorbike like her husband.
“My call to Kenyans is become an active citizen. Speak out when things go wrong and remember this, you can never achieve anything without courage”, he concluded.
