Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko’s father has passed on at the Nairobi Hospital after a short illness.
Gideon Kioko Kivanguli, the man who Sonko has in many occasions has attributed his success to, passed away Sunday evening aged 67.
In brief post on his Facebook page, the Senator announced the sad news: “ Mzee has left us” He writes in his post.
Gideon Kivanguli had been admitted to the hospital but after what was described as “serious complication” last week, he was moved to the Intensive Care Unit.
It has not yet been disclosed what caused the death of Mzee Kivanguli.
Sonko's full post reads;
Dear Kenyans and watu wangu nyote in general I thank each and everyone of you for your prayers during my Dad's sickness. We all loved him but GOD loved him more than us. Mzee has just left us. Continue praying for our family and all those in similar situations.
On Friday, Sonko had posted message asking for prayers from Kenyan after his father was placed in life support. Attaching a photo of him standing on the bedside at the ICU ,Sonko included a short prayer that got overwhelmingly response from Kenyans.
Kenyans were quick to send in their condolence messages.
