In a chopper-landing, politician-attending pre-wedding affair, which is estimated to have cost Sh15 million (a record breaker), Kendi Mwiti, the beauty of the moment, was given the keys to her fiancé’s new house, symbolising that she is now his wife.
It was a showdown of sorts as the family of Dr Mwiti, a popular scholar from Meru, and his political friends descended on a remote Ndhiwa village in Homa Bay County in three choppers and officially handed over their daughter to businessman Jared Otieno, in a reciprocal move to appreciate Otieno’s traditional-marriage visit that took place in Meru last year.
The highlight of the event that was also attended by celebrities was to officially welcome Kendi to her fiancé’s homestead ahead of their wedding marked for October.
“I trust this will be the wedding of the year. You should have seen the convoy of 18 Range Rovers and the Porsche Cayenne Jared was driven in. Literally, Ndhiwa came into a standstill. All hotels had been booked by the Meru team and we had to sleep in the cars. The cheapest drink was Black Label,” Jalang’o, the MC of the day, told Pulse.
