Nicole Scherzinger 'dumps Lewis Hamilton after he refuses to marry her'

Nicole Scherzinger has split up with Lewis Hamilton because he would not commit to marrying her, it has been reported.

The Formula One world champion’s relationship with his on/off girlfriend of seven years has hit the wall, apparently after a series of Christmas rows.

“It really is over this time,” a source told The Sun.

A few months ago they were rumoured to be in the process of getting engaged.

But it is understood Nicole finally called time on the relationship after becoming convinced Lewis would never propose.

But now it seems the couple’s increasing time away from each other has torn them apart.

Nicole, 36, is said to be “really upset”.

Lewis, 30, who won his second F1 title last year, is said to be more committed than ever to his sport.

His long-standing dream has been to win three world titles to emulate his hero Ayrton Senna, leaving little time for a steady love life.

“They’d been fighting for months but things had got much worse,” said a source.

“They spend so much time apart that things just became untenable.”

Despite splitting up a number of times in recent years, the pair seemed closer than ever at the end of 2014.

But Lewis was all too aware of the pressure that was on him to pop the question.

At Rihanna’s Diamond Ball, he told E!: “I’m certainly feeling pressure, heat from family members.

“But Nicole’s massively focused on her work the same as I am. We’re happy just way we are.”

Both Nicole and Lewis have been working hard over the last few months, and just as the sportsman got some time off, Nic joined the cast of Cats in the West End.

Lewis revealed: “Nicole is going to be working hard in London. I get a break.”

The couple are understood to have tried but failed to agree on their future.

Former X Factor judge Nicole made it clear she wanted marriage and children while Lewis has thought about little else than beating his Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg in this year’s world championship.

“You hear about people who achieve a lot but then lose their focus and you wonder at what point does it fade off. I’m grateful that the fire is still there within me,” said Lewis this week.

“I think subconsciously the taste of success spurs me on. I like that feeling and I want to feel it again and again.”
