Turns out the allegations about Kathy Kiuna rebuffing poor people are not true. In fact, the JCC camp says Kathy Kiuna has not been in the country for the better part of January.
Social media has been abuzz for the last couple of days after rumours emerged that the good reverend had made this statement last Sunday during her sermon; “This is not a place for poor people. If you can’t tithe, find another church, we don’t entertain poverty”.
On a phone interview with one of the JCC representatives, SDE learnt that the pastor has not been in the country for the last three weeks and has not preached since the year started.
The Kiunas have received backlash from Kenyans on social media including Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko.
Sonko went ahead to air his views on his Facebook page saying, “Watu wangu naskia mumefukuzwa Church zenu due to poverty don't worry tuko pamoja. Many Christian believers who invest years in their lives in what they do will one day stand before the Lord and realize they were building the house, not the Lord but sinking sand. Before we act, we must ask why? Why are we doing what we are doing? Has God called us to this task? Or is the real motive purely financial or otherwise or control.”
