Gilbert Kibe resigns as Communications Authority chairperson

Gilbert Kibe has resigned as the Chairperson of the Board of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).

In his letter to President William Ruto dated Friday, December 2, 2022, Kibe said he was quitting over personal reasons.

"Due to personal interests that I wish to pursue, I hereby tender my resignation as Chairman of the Board of the Communications Authority of Kenya with effect from December 1, 2022," Kibe said in the letter copied to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo.

"I take this opportunity to sincerely thank you (President Ruto) for according me the opportunity to serve in this important and strategic regulatory agency for the last seven months," said Kibe.

The outgoing CA Board chairperson was appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta on May 13, 2022 for a period of three years.

Prior to joining the Communications Authority of Kenya, Captain Kibe served as the Director-General of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).

He exited KCAA in February 2022 after serving at the helm for close to eight years.

Prior to his stint at KCAA, Kibe served as the CEO of Bahati Ridge Development Limited and Nairobi Flight Training Limited.

He has more than 30 years' experience in the aviation industry.

Kibe was replaced as the Director-General of KCAA by Emile Nguza in March 2022.
