The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has refuted claims that its database has been infiltrated.
In a statement posted on its Twitter page, NHIF says "attention is drawn to social media posts alleging that the NHIF database for the last three years has been deleted,"
"NHIF would like to categorically assure Kenyans that the database is intact and has not been tampered with in any way, as alleged in the various misleading social media posts," the statement read in part.
The statement comes hot on the heels of the alleged deletion of the database, as one user alleged NHIF 'cannot tell the number of contributors and the actual sum of fund they had collected in the past 2-3 years.'
This led to NHIF trending top on social media for the better part of Sunday.
The firm has provided a way for Kenyans to the history of their contribution.
"Members can interrogate the database and check the history of their contributions through available self-care platforms. Dial USSD code *155#, download 'My NHIF' App, Web portal, or send SMS9 type your ID number to the NHIF short code 1550," NHIF said.
