Local artistes, among them top comedians and theatre personalities, have come to Walter Mongare’s (Nyambane) defense over a comment that seemed to belittle him on his Nairobi County director of communications re-appointment as he is a “comedian”.
“Anyone who is trying to say that Mongare is simply a comedian who cannot hold a government office is ill informed. That person belittles all creatives in this country. In fact, that should be taken as hate speech,” a statement forwarded to MondayBlues by a group calling itself the Kenya Arts Association read in part.
Mongare was reinstated last week after a short stint that saw Noellah Musundi hold the position.
