Leading boy band Sauti Sol are the highest earners in a Sh30 million royalties release boom to be declared by the Music Copyright Society of Kenya today, MondayBlues can authoritatively report.
The celebrated group leads a group of top earners among them newcomers who have tilted the scale to dislodge some previous dominant names from the top.
Bahati is the second hightest earner followed by Lady Wanja, Willy Paul, Mum Cherop, H_Art the Band, Gloria Muliro and Rabbit, in that order. Others are John De Mathew and Hellena Ken.
Diamond has dislodged Angela Chibalonza to become the highest paid foreign artiste. Christina Susho, Ali Kiba, Jose Chameleone and Rose Muhando wrap up the list of the top five highest paid foreign earners.
According to the report to be released today, MCSK notes that majority of local radio and TV stations have been broadcasting more foreign works against the government directive for broadcasting of more local content.
