The secrecy with which President US President Barack Obama’s visit is treated with may make it futile for us to get full details about some American military helicopters and jets said to have landed in the country last week ahead of Obama’s visit.
Sources have it that five military jets arrived here the same day the president’s Cadillac One aka The Beast arrived here under close guard by the Secret Service.
The Beast is a moving fortress impenetrable by bullets and bombs. Usually, at least two cars travel with the US president wherever he goes and the president’s motorcade is usually surrounded with about 45 armed vehicles including an identical decoy, local police, a mobile communications centre, more armed vehicles and an ambulance.
A green helicopter that is said to resemble President Obama’s Marine One is said to be among the military apparatus already in the country. And snipers have already taken over major buildings and five-star city hotels as security becomes a number one priority in every spot in Nairobi.
Discreet Secret Service officers have taken over the city some camping in hotels and other buildings and posing as ordinary people. Nairobians should brace themselves for a communication space interference when Obama and his team arrive here next week.
