Lupita Nyong’o shook the world with her remarkable acting on 12 Years A Slave which landed her an Oscar Award and was a huge wake up call to the Kenyan film industry of it's potential.
Daystar University seems to be in the works already with a premier set to go down from 6.30 p.m at Valley Road Campus on 20th September. Students in the university have produced and directed a movie dubbed ‘The Runner’. The movie is about a teenage from a poor background forfeits academics to pursue football but is lured into a world of crime and deception.
The movie is a call on how the education system can help the film industry by providing students with skills and experience and bring it to the level it is meant to be. Themovie has been done entirely by students who have studied the industry and are sharpening their skill as they go along.
The film industry has gotten a boost from Lupita’s fame and investors have already come in to raise the industry. The likes of Zuku and Kijiji Entertainment among others have put effort in to improve quality of productions to succeed like the famous movies Kibera Kid and Nairobi Half Life.
