January 9 will forever remain etched in his memory. What started as an ordinary day for Zachary Chege, save for the fact that it was his birthday, culminated into a day of double blessings.
Zachary, a green grocer from Kayole won Sh23,094,280 as a Mega Jackpot Bonus on the same day that he was born.
He placed a Sh100 bet on SportPesa’s Mega Jackpot last weekend and correctly predicted 16 out of 17 match outcomes, narrowly missing out on the Sh210 million Mega Jackpot.
“When I placed the bet, I was not optimistic that I would win. As I started seeing the results of the matches streaming in, I got excited as all my predicted outcomes were correct! It is a shame that I didn’t get all the 17 games, but I thank God for this win all the same,” said an ecstatic Zachary at SportPesa offices.
Zachary had initially predicted a win for Eibar in their LaLiga match against Las Palmas UD that was played on Sunday night but later changed it to a draw before placing his bet. The game ended in a win for Eibar.
“I started betting with SportPesa in February 2017 and until now, the most I had won was Sh6,500. But I had friends who had won bonuses so I never gave up and continued placing my bets on both the Mid-Week Jackpot and Mega Jackpot.
Apart from Mr. Chege, the winners of 15 correct predictions got Sh318,392 each; 14 correct predictions won Sh54,499 each while those with 13 and 12 correct predictions got Sh11,158 and Sh3,054 respectively.
Bonus payouts for the 17-game Mega Jackpot begin from 12 correct predictions while those of the mid-week jackpot which features 13 select games are paid from 10 correct predictions onwards.
This week’s Mega Jackpot amount has risen to Sh215,144,791 while the Mid-week Jackpot stands at Sh3,174,735. Both amounts progress every week if there is no correct predictions of all 13 (Mid-week jackpot) and 17 (Mega Jackpot) games.
