Comedian Peter Wamwea, popularly known to his fans as Consumator has spoken on facing stigma just days after he came out to appeal to Kenyans to assist him.

Through a post on his official social media pages, the content creator stated that he is glad he talked about what he was going through despite having to deal with the shame and ridicule that accompanied it.

“I spoke about my issues. I thought I will be at peace. Now I have to deal with STIGMA of people pointing at me and discussing me.

“But the greatest stigma comes from closest people and family who thought I should not have talked the way I talked. Should I walk with a mask to avoid ridicule? No!!,” he wrote.

Adding: “I take pride in telling my story. I was prepared for the aftermath. Am willing to get out of bad to better.”

Last week, Consumator revealed that he is currently working as a caretaker and has been struggling with not only financial difficulties but the illness of a loved one too.

“Guys I have no problem being a caretaker. I do it with happiness and a smile. I have no problem at all doing vibarua kwa shamba. Anything that would help me raise whatever money for my dad’s illness I will do it with stride and gratitude,” Consumator wrote on his Instagram Stories.

Speaking to Standard Entertainment, Consumator said his troubles began in 2019 when his father was diagnosed with Prostate cancer.

He said that he had to use his savings to help his dad get treatment and at some point, he had to sell everything he owned.

“I had to move in with a friend in Zimmerman and we agreed to cost-share as I tried to make ends meet. At first, everything was smooth but with time I struggled to pay rent.

“I would default for months and my friend grew impatient with me,” he said.

Adding: “One day he kicked me out of the house at night. It was shameful because people around that area knew me. I spent the night out in the cold.”
