Akothee: Stop passing the phone to strangers when I call you

Self-proclaimed president of single mothers Esther Akoth alias Akothee, has taken to social media to rant about certain behaviours that do not sit well with her. Through a post on Instagram, the mother of five admitted that it gets to her when her friends try to introduce her to their circles.

According to Akothee, this is very disrespectful and leaves her feeling uneasy.

“No celebrity wants to be introduced to your circle! Please stop passing over the phone to people not known to them. ‘Here, speak with my friend so and so he loves you’ This is disrespectful,” she wrote in part.

Akothee went on to add that when this happens she often feels her friendship is being taken advantage of because of her celebrity status.

“You have my number for a reason and it’s our private arrangement! Passing me over to your villagers is crowd (sic) and this makes me very uncomfortable, I start feeling you taking advantage of our friendship/ relationship stop! it’s not funny…the worst is when you video call! That's even suicidal stop before I embarrass you. STOP,” she added.

This, however, rubbed some of her fans the wrong way and this is what they had to say:

@naomydaiz: “Hii pride yote it will end in tears...the one who wrote pride comes before a fall... knew it all...stay humble...,”

@samuel_masaku: “Do not tell us to like and share your videos to the villagers too.”

@kingdom.gal.fitness: “You don't need to post this here....just tell her or him directly.”

@asqute_murel: “Madam boss why post such private issues here??address the person directly. Sisi hatuna number yako na hata hatutaki.”

However, another section of her fans felt that the issue also affects them, especially when a phone is passed over to speak to a distant relative whom they have never met.

@hrh_magmatic: “This is the equivalent of your parents handing you the phone to catch up with your Great Aunt Gaudencia whom you’ve never met… awkward and bewildering!”

@ely_elisec: Even us non-celebrities we don’t like that too…bad manners.”

@hildahambani: “Not only celebrities, I personally hate that thing with passion…"hata tuko hapa na nani ongeako na yeye" kwanza waluhya,”

@daisynamayi: I feel you. I hate it even when my own relatives or friends do that to me yet I’m not famous. Even though I know that person- our call was for our conversation, not for a group or other third parties! Ask for my permission or just pass their regards. That’s enough.
