Rappers with Guinness World Records

News
A collage of Tupac, Eminem and Jay Z.

People have entered the Guinness World Records for various reasons. Some are fascinating while others are outright absurd, but these few rappers have found themselves in the same corridors.

Eminem

In 2013, Eminem created a new Guinness World Record for most words in a song for his hit, Rap God. The song, which has 1,560 words held the record with an average of 4.28 words per second in the six minutes and four seconds track. The record was broken last year when Harry Shotta dropped his track Animal, which got more words than Eminem’s Record holder track. The six-minute and 23-second song has 1,771 words.

Chiddy Bang

Chidera 'Chiddy' Anamege, a rapper from Bang, is the current owner of the title Longest Freestyle Rap. The record that was set before stood at nine hours 15 minutes, 15 seconds at the time; Chiddy broke the record and set a new one in 2011. His record stands at nine hours, 18 minutes and 22 seconds. The freestyle that has since been described as surreal saw him take two bathroom breaks, but the rule was to not stop spitting. So he had to go on rapping while in the bathroom.

Jay Z

He has held numerous records throughout his career. One of his greatest feats was in 2006 when he performed the most live shows in a 24-hour stretch. HOV performed a seven-city Hangar Tour within 24 hours, going from Atlanta to Las Vegas. It was all in promotion of his album 'Kingdom Come'. In 2011, together with his beau Beyoncé, the pair set a new world record as entertainment's most influential couple. This also earned them a spot in the Guinness World Record.

Ludacris

This one has absolutely nothing to do with music. In 2008, Luda along with some of his friends participated in the largest group shower. Ludacris was among over 1,000 participants to take part in the public cleaning. The challenge was part of a project that explored ways to help the environment. Although it was a public shower, people did have their swimsuits and trunks on.

Tupac Shakur

Even in death, Tupac managed to surprise fans all over the world, through releasing new music and breaking records. Guinness gave him the title eight years after his death. Tupac has released a total of 11 platinum albums: four during his career, with seven more released posthumously. To date, Tupac has sold more than 75 million records worldwide.

Twista

The Chicago MC is known for his chopper-style of rapping. He holds the title of fastest English-speaking rapper in the world in 1992. Twista was able to pronounce 598 syllables in 55 seconds. That is an average of 11.2 syllables per second.

Lil Wayne

As mentioned earlier, some entries are outright absurd. In 2011, Lil Wayne earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for having the most ‘likes’ on a single Facebook post in 24 hours, at 588,243. The same year, he scored a second spot for being the hip hop artiste with the most songs ever entered on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
