Pambazuka Events organiser Leakey Odera celebrated his birthday this year in style.
In most birthday parties, people get ‘washed’ with water but Leakey’s case was special.
To the amazement of fellow revellers at K1, Leakey was showered with four bottles of champagne, each valued at Sh15, 000.
In attendance was chairman of the Board of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, Evans Gor Semelang’o, Comedian Eric Omondi, celebrated footballer Dennis Oliech and The Nairobian columnist Solomon Koko.
Asked about this extravagant ‘treat’, Leakey down played the event, like nothing ‘unusual’ happened.
“In Luo we believe in give and get. What started out as a random party ended up as the greatest evening in a very long while,” he told Heads Up.
Sources at the party say within six hours, the party of not more than ten people had spent over Sh100, 000.
Leakey also got ‘enveloped’ gifts from his friends.
