A remarkable footage has emerged of the world's most venomous snake appearing to safeguard a sleeping toddler

The incredible film captures four king cobras standing guard above a sleeping baby.

The slithering reptiles have even risen up and extended their hoods.

They use such an hypnotic display when they feel threatened – but do not direct the action towards the baby at any point during the clip.

It is unsure where the film was shot, but king cobras are predominantly found across India and South East Asia.

King cobras usually avoid confrontations with humans but remain one of the most dangerous and feared snakes to inhabit the forests of Asia.

They are the longest of all the venomous snakes, growing up to five metres.

Cobras' venom isn't as strong as other species but they produce enough in a single deadly strike to kill a fully-grown elephant.
