A Nairobi County Assembly committee directed to investigate activities of a city club said to have selective admission of customers and alleged prostitution business has tabled its findings.
Trade, Tourism and Cooperatives committee chaired by MCA Charles Thuo reported that a Bar in Kileleshwa is in a residential property - but with a strippers’ shaft whose use is doubtful.
Early this year, Riruta Ward rep James Kiriba asked the House committee to investigate what goes on in the lounge, whether it was a brothel or massage parlour.
“The club only allows entry to singles and casually dressed revellers,” Kiriba said. The county executive trade wing told the committee they licensed the lounge mid-last year to trade alcohol and entertainment - and that there was no prostitution going on as alleged.
The House Committee visited the club and established it has strippers’ prop, but added that it was unclear if prostitution was taking place at the facility.
“The bar doubled up as a lodge with four executive rooms. The Committee could not ascertain whether prostitution activities are being carried out in the premises,” Thuo reported.
