Residents of Machakos are accusing Governor Alfred Mutua of denying them access to his house in In Mua hills, Mathatani.
The residents claim they are often turned back at the gate whenever they seek to meet the Governor to pour out their troubles to a man they voted for overwhelmingly in 2017 elections.
The residents claim they have only seen him twice at his home since his re-lection on August 8, 2017.
“Governor Mutua does not frequent this area anymore, yet this is his home, where he built his house. We have only seen him twice,” said a resident adding that the home only has guards and employees.
Mutua seems to be a very busy man, as those seeking to see him in his office take days or months to meet him.
Machakos town resident Joseph Muendo says they are agitated by Mutua and his administration.
“We are not allowed to enter the Governor’s office gates without an appointment. Some of us want to have a one on one talk with him. I do not understand why he is never available. ” he said.
A businessman in the town said that Mutua is not accessible because he has a stretched protocol leading to the blues.
“A large number of Machakos residents would like to talk to Mutua, but they cannot. In other counties we have seen him visit homes and having time for them, but for us it becomes a difficulty,” he said.
The Governor, who is the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader recently toured Nyeri County. Dr. Mutua has announced that he will also be in the 2022 Presidential race.
