Biwott’s lender: You can hardly find Barnabas arap Kiprono in town after 5pm

 Barnabas arap Kiprono

Nicholas Biwott was a secretive public servant and politician, a characteristic Kiprono shares.

At his Zion Mall offices in Eldoret, a Mr Sang intimated that Kiprono only met people on appointment.

“This is his office but he is not around, he only comes here when he has an appointment with clients,” said Sang “I am just mtu wa mkono and I don’t have his number.”

One of Kiprono’s close friends who live abroad told The Nairobian that “He is a very calm man and even a lengthy session of interaction can hardly open him up to you. He is a shrewd businessman that owns several commercial storey buildings in Eldoret and a property manager for other affluent investors.”

His peers described him as a reserved man with few words and that only very close friends and family members could tell in detail what kind of a person he was at family and business levels.

“He manages a lot of property for affluent investors in the region and is associated with many commercial establishments in town. But it is difficult to prove if indeed he is the owner. You can hardly find him in town after 5pm and on most occasions he walks and when he has to use a car, he drives himself,” said the source.

The source said that Lodwar was a friend of Biwott but could not say how tight their friendship was.

“Biwott was friend to many and Lodwar was one of his friends, you can neither qualify nor disapprove the allegations that he lent him money. The man deals with great investors and has bailed out many powerful politicians when their businesses were not doing well and would benefit from the interest he charges.”
