Homa Bay gubernatorial aspirant Oyugi Magwanga, has hit out at Governor Cyprian Awiti, citing “poor development record.”

Magwanga noted that, “Awiti has perfected the art of sitting next to Cord co-principal Raila Odinga in public rallies to hoodwink wananchi after failing to initiate development as he pledged in 2013.”

Magwanga cautioned the electorate against voting in leaders who shout Raila’s name in the village, yet they have nothing to show for their term in office.

“Our people must now be wise and shun leaders who want to cling on Raila’s coat after failing to initiate development projects,” he said, adding that, “Awiti should list projects he has initiated in the county before seeking another term.”

Magwanga further said that Kenyans have started asking leaders tough questions and people like Awiti must carry their own cross.

“Kasipul was ranked position one in Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Nyanza region and this is what when elected, I will take to the county,” said the Kasipul legislator.

“Let him prepare for an embarrassing defeat in the nominations,” he declared.

He urged Kenyans to register as voters and vote for change in the forthcoming General Election.

“It is through the ballot that citizens can have a say in the way they are governed, therefore, the youth and women must come out and register in large numbers,” said Magwanga.

Battle lines have been drawn ahead of ODM primaries, especially in Luo Nyanza where it is matter of life and death.

In Homa Bay, the contest for the governor’s seat has divided party loyalists right in the middle, with party national chairman and Suba MP John Mbadi rooting for Awiti, while the county party chair and Woman Rep Gladys Wanga leaning towards Magwanga.
