Ladies, would you part with Sh120,000 for killer curves?

Dr Pancholi says that no supplements or pills, adoption of new diets or exercise regimens are required.

You don’t need back-breaking exercises and the rigours of dieting to maintain that killer, curvy figure that has men drooling.

Upmarket city women have found out they can go through the medical route with a non-surgical procedure at the doctor’s.

Paula, a resident of Lavington, Nairobi opted for ‘cool sculpting’ because “I was tired of strict dieting, spending hours at the gym during weekdays and doing aerobics at home over the weekends without much result.”

She adds: “I was initially apprehensive about the procedure. But two months down the line, I am feeling really fine.”

Even men have been roped in. One is Wanjohi, who was referred to the new trend by a female colleague after she underwent the simple procedure last December. “I was uncomfortable with my pot belly and have also never been a gym fanatic. So, I resolved to take this option,” says Wanjohi, a business man.

Dr Pranav Pancholi of the Avané Clinique explains that ‘cool sculpting’ is a non-invasive laser procedure that freezes away unwanted body fat, safely and effectively contours the body.

Possible side-effects cannot be ruled out as individuals react differently to medication.  “Changes become more evident after two months as the body will flush out fat cells for four to six months after treatment,” Dr Pancholi says. The doctor advises that, “It is wise to consult a physician before undergoing the procedure to find out whether cool sculpting is right for you.”

He adds that: “During the procedure, patients may experience an intense hot and cold feeling, numbness, deep pull or slight discomfort due to the vacuum effect which lasts for hours after treatment.”

The procedure works best on the upper belly, lower belly, flanks (love handles), knees, chin, buttocks and arms.

“It is not like the side-effects of liposuction (suction-assisted fat removal) and it also prevents the risk of damage on contagious tissues as may occur with radio frequencies or laser treatments,” he notes.

Dr Pancholi says that no supplements or pills, adoption of new diets or exercise regimens are required.

Cool sculpting progressively eliminates some fat cells while others are impaired and eliminated within a few days. “The final outcome is a decrease of the subcutaneous fat layer and a well-sculptured body,”  explains the doctor.
