A woman has been charged in court for selling a pressure stove for Sh550,000.
Samuel Njoroge Wainaina claims that on August 18 2016, Ann Mbithe working with an accomplice, defrauded him by falsely pretending she could supply a souvenir stove containing mercury and gold elements at Kahawa West within Kiambu County.
According to police records, the accused told the complainant that the stove was used by wazungu in World War II, prompting Wainaina to calculate how he would make a killing in resale.
On the material day, the accused and his accomplices are said to have met the complainant at Kahawa West where they were given Sh550,000 and pretended that they were going to bank the cash, he never heard from them again.
The complainant reported the matter at Kiambu Police Station.
Mbithe was released on a Sh150,000 cash bail or surety bond of Sh200,000.
