Raila has already taken the anti-corruption message and run away with it. He has taken the opportunity and reminded the country that an election victory for his party is "not a party affair. It is a matter of national interest."
Raila reminded the country that the government even with its international networks and repeated endorsements from economic hitmen that run the world's financial institutions had to be removed from power.
"Do not worry that our development partners are pampering the regime and fattening its accounts with more money. Do not worry that development partners are turning a blind eye to the corruption and impunity taking roots. They did so with Mobutu Seseseko and Kamuzu Banda and the many other kleptocracies until those regimes fell under the weight of corruption and lies. This is our country. We must save it ourselves," he said when he hosted the party's National Governing Council.
