Former grave robber, John Kibera, has confessed that he rarely attends funerals.
He revealed that people still give him the ‘bad eye’ and suspect he is there to steal caskets, and as such prefers to stay away.
Kibera, who is now a street preacher at Kencom stage in Nairobi CBD, says that even when one of his relatives dies, he skips the burial day and prefers to only contribute money. “I just contribute money, whether the funeral is for family or friend. I would rather not show up to avoid the unnecessary suspicions. People who knew me back in the day are still afraid of me,” said Kibera.
He revealed that after reforming and giving his life to Christ in 2013, his passion now is to win souls for God, especially drug addicts.
“I do not see the need of opening a church. My calling is to preach to thugs and reformed criminals who don’t go to church,” said Kibera.
He disclosed that when he was a grave robber, he would attend funeral committees in the pretence of mourning with bereaved families and even give kitu kidogo.
He later surrendered to the police and donated his Sh7 million home in Kitengela to a children’s home.
