Kenyans joined Thomas Letangule to grieve his wife who passed away at the Family Care Medical Centre and Maternity Home in Nairobi.
Esther Kagwiria Letangule died on April 10, 2013 in what the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board ruled as ‘negligence’ following her death from brain haemorrhage caused by high blood pressure during delivery.
Letangule reportedly received a text message from the hospital that read,
“We want to refer your wife, pliz call me back.” After fighting his way through Nairobi’s traffic, he found out that his wife had died.
The medical board found the health facility guilty and ordered a compensation over the death, but the hospital maintained the case was of ‘high risk’ at the time.
