A man has been charged in court after he was found with leopard skin and claws without a permit.
The court heard that the accused, identified as Tobin Kenyani, was arrested by police on patrol on the night of December 8 on Jogoo Road.
The prosecution said the officers who were patrolling on foot bumped on the suspect carrying a white paper bag. It is alleged that when the police sought to know what he was carrying, he lied that he was carrying his personal clothes.
The accused told police that he had just bought new clothes and was on his way home. It is reported that the accused appeared suspicious, prompting the police to search him. It was then that they discovered fresh leopard skin with four claws hidden in the bag.
Kenyani however denied the charges, claiming the items belonged to another person. He pleaded with the court for lenient bond terms. He was released on a Sh300,000 cash bail or Sh500,000 bond. The case will be heard on May 13, 2016.
