A German national implicated in the Mercy Bundi ‘suicide’ as reported in by Daily Nation says he is devastated by the story.
“Marco says that he has never met the said Mercy Bundi and has never sexually assaulted anyone in his life. The story has attracted hatred towards people who know my client and a misunderstanding among those who know him here and abroad,” lawyer Bonface Muumbi of Omari Muumbi & Kiragu Advocates, who is handling the matter on behalf of Marco Ritz told The Nairobian on phone.
“We have also recorded a statement with the CID and the matter is under investigation,” said Muumbi, adding that Marco is a regular visitor to Kenya. Before ‘Mercy Bundi’ ‘committed suicide’ she had reportedly met Marco at Mombasa’s Kinondo Poa Hotel, near the Galu Kinondo Beach.
Kinondo Poa Hotel management confirmed that Marco Ritz was at their establishment where he celebrated his birthday with six others by the pool side before leaving after midnight.
Kinondo Poa proprietor Duncan Murigo told The Nairobian that, “Ours is a private getaway with cottages for relaxation tucked away for relaxation purposes in specially designed cottages, not a place where this kind of things would happen.”
Kinondo Poa director Laura Nanyuli says that guests were shocked and “we got so many calls from clients and travel agents wondering whether we had changed our business to entaertain such casual encounters. ”
