Do you intend to run for MP in Kibra in 2017?

This is a very difficult decision to make. Of course it’s important as well. I however don’t want to rush because everyone is speculating. I will let you know officially should I decide to vie for any position in future. I don’t want to discuss Kibra politics now given there are more pressing issues.

What do you say about your current push to have the youth acquire IDs?

I am passionate about young people charting their future and as we both know, this can only be possible if they have identification cards. Without IDs, they will not be able to access vital government services, including the Youth Fund, Uwezo Fund and even the Women’s Fund to enable them improve their economic status. Similarly, without IDs, they will not be able to register as voters and take part in the democratic political process.

In case you decide to run in 2017, do you think the party nomination process will be fair?

I am not a spokesperson for any political party, so I am not in a position to say or even speculate on how nominations for political office will be conducted. As I had stated earlier, I believe there are more important things to do now. There is no reason for anyone to be scared unless they don’t want the youth to obtain IDs and register as voters. Anyone with noble intentions should encourage and support this exercise.

Which female Kenyan politician has made the strongest impression on you and why?

I respect Martha Karua because she does not waver while pursuing any cause she believes in. I also admire Charity Ngilu. Her being the first lady to vie for the presidency demystified the office and has given inspiration to many other women to vie for other political seats.

Is there a possibility of Kenya having a woman president in your lifetime?

It is not a long shot. Anything is possible. A woman can be president.

What would you consider the saddest day of your life?

The saddest day was the day I got information that my brother Fidel had died.

If you had a quiet dinner with retired president Kibaki, what would you tell him?

It was in the public domain that he was a golf enthusiast, so I would ask him if he now has enough time to play golf.
