The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has reinstated Vincent Korir as the Kericho County Assembly Majority Leader as well as Haron Rotich and the Majority Whip opening the door for a section of the MCAs to call for the resignation of Patrick Mutai as the Speaker of the Assembly.

UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina, in her letter dated November 14th, to the Clerk of the County Assembly Martin Epus stated that the party stands by its initial decision on the House Leadership.

The UDA letter follows Deputy Speaker Erick Bett's letter to the party dated November 10th in which he has sought clarification on purported changes at the County Assembly.

Reacting to the reinstallation of Korir and Rotich, Bett who represents Kipchebor ward petitioned the Speaker of the Assembly Patrick Mutai to resign for allegedly perpetuating impunity and "defiling" the constitution of Kenya.

Korir who was flanked by 28 members of the County Assembly said he was shocked to learn the changes while he was away attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt.

During the press conference, Kisiara MCA Gilbert Ng'etich who the Speaker had declared was the new majority Whip claimed that he was elected in absentia and had therefore turned it down.

Chemosot ward MCA Anita Biegon said they were dismayed to learn that the house had been adjourned earlier than scheduled.
